Master Kim
Master Han Woong Kim was born in Seoul, Korea and moved to America in 1988. He studied martial arts under his father, the founder of Jang Mu Won Hapkido, Grandmaster Chong Sung Kim. Master Kim was chosen amongst his brothers to pass on the family's art due to his exceptional dedication to teaching. Currently a sixth degree black belt, he has operated his martial arts school in South Pasadena, California since 1992. Master Kim has also be featured in martial arts publications, with the most recent being the April 2010 issue of Black Belt Magazine.
Master Kim has expanded the art of Hapkido through his development of Hapki Boxing, an ultimate fitness experience fusing elements of martial arts and traditional boxing. This unique form of exercise is particularly designed for women interested in losing weight, getting in shape, and learning self-defense.
As the father of three young children, Master Kim recognized the need for a program designed to improve the listening skills, focus, co-ordination, discipline, and physical fitness of young children. As a result, he created Junior Hapki, a program dedicated to children 3 1/2 - 5 years of age. Children actively engage in activities which emphasize life skills such as dedication, perseverance, and discipline while learning the basics of self-defense in a fun, safe environment under the guidance of experienced martial arts instructors.
